Choosing a Swim with Dolphin Program
Going on holiday to somewhere that you have never been can be a rewarding and relaxing experience. Many times when people head out on holiday they often want to try something new and unique that they have never done before. For many people going to a tropical location they may want to try one of the many swim with dolphins program. The swim with dolphins program is a great experience for anyone who wants to see dolphins up close and personal.
One of the first things you want to think about is where to go. There are many different locations where you can swim with dolphins. Hawaii by far is the most popular, but the Bahamas, Mexico, Florida, anywhere in the Caribbean as well as other wonderful countries such as Ireland and New Zealand make wonderful places to swim with dolphins. Almost anywhere that has dolphins in captivity offers you a chance to swim with them, but you can also choose to swim with them in the wild which is truly an amazing experience. Although you may not be able to get up as close to the dolphins, you do get a more realistic portrayal of what their life is actually like.
When choosing to swim with dolphins there are numerous types of programs available. A simple dolphin swim is about 1 to 4 hours long and is often the most cost effective. Usually there is a short training session on how to make the most of your swim with dolphins as well as how to handle the animals properly. That is usually followed by a short dolphin swim that can extend up to a few hours. Another program to swim with dolphins that is available is to become a trainer for the day. At many of the larger facilities they allow you to work closely with the dolphins both in and out of the water. You will be able to feed the animals, teach them to follow commands, and basically anything that their everyday trainer does.
Swimming with dolphins in the wild is usually a more comprehensive program. It may include up to 7 days located in a tropical location that allows you to interact with them on a daily basis. A trained professional will take you out to their natural habitat so that you can connect with the dolphins in their world. Complete with boat rides and accommodations these swim with dolphins programs usually last a lot longer but will cost you more money as well. However, you will learn so much more about their life, their personalities and how they behave, “talk,” and reproduce just to name but a few things.
The difference between the swim with dolphins programs in captivity and the wild are immense. You won’t be able to touch them as frequently or if at all in the wild but your one on one time with them will be considerably longer. You will learn more about them in the wild as well. No matter whether you choose to swim with dolphins at a theme park or in the middle of the ocean, each experience is unique and thrilling in its own way.
